Penelope Cruz on dream job with Pirates Of The Caribbean star

By JODY THOMPSON

Firm friends: Penelope Cruz, seen here with Johnny Depp at the Pirates Of The Caribbean: On Stranger Tides premiere in Los Angeles last week, said he's always making her laugh

Spanish beauty Penelope Cruz has revealed that she only knew two phrases in English when she moved to the U.S. to try and make it in the movies - and one of them was 'I want to work with Johnny Depp'.

The star, who turned 37 last month, revealed that it was her dream to work with the 47-year-old star - and that the only other English words she knew when she arrived in Hollywood were 'How are you?'

Penelope, who was born in a suburb of Madrid, first worked with Johnny a decade ago in movie Blow and they have remained close friends ever since - so she explained she jumped at the chance to work with him again on Pirates of The Caribbean: On Stranger Tides.

On set: Johnny, Penelope and Ian McShane in a still from the forthcoming new movie

She explained: 'When I first came to America I only knew two phrases in English. One was, "How are you?" and the other was, "I want to work with Johnny Depp."

'Then after I worked with him on Blow, I learned how to say, "I want to work with Johnny Depp again!" He’s very addictive and he just gets better and better over the years.'

Shiver me timbers: Penelope plays Angelica in the movie, an old flame of Johnny's Captain Jack Sparrow, and the daughter of Ian McShane's Blackbeard

However, she explained there was a slight problem with working with him again - trying not to laugh during shooting.

She told the Mirror: 'The only problem is he has a very peculiar sense of humour – and even though I know all his tricks, he can still crack me up.

'I can’t stop laughing when we are working so we had a few problems on the set. One time we were stuck for two hours and couldn’t finish the scene because we couldn’t stop laughing.'

Avast me hearties! Huge banners advertising Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides went up on the facade of the Carlon Hotel in Cannes ahead of the 64th Cannes Film Festival this month

Oscar-winner Penelope also revealed that they have a shared love of animated comedy show South Park - and Johnny created a fancy dress outfit based on the show's Mr Hanky The Christmas Poo that she had to wear as a forfeit on set.

Penelope laughed: 'Johnny made this outfit for me and we had a bet which I lost. And I had to wear the Poo outfit on the set.

dazzle: If you are dazzled by someone or something, you think they are extremely good and exciting

'You're the one, Em': Brad Womack proposes to Emily Maynard in the tear-jerking finale of The Bachelor

By Daily Mail Reporter

On bended knee: Brad Womack proposed to single mother Emily Maynard on the tear-jerking finale of The Bachelor last night

He caused major controversy when he rejected DeAnna Pappas and Jenni Croft in his first Bachelor spell, but Brad Womack finally found the woman of his dreams when he proposed to Emily Maynard, last night.

The 38-year-old got down on bended knee and presented the single mother with a stunning Neil Lane diamond ring in the tear-jerking finale of The Bachelor.

The tragic stricken beautiful blonde who lost her fiancé in a car crash six years ago, blinked back tears in the emotional moment that fans had been waiting for.

'You're so much more to me than a leap of faith. You're the one, Em," Brad told her.

'I love you...You're my once in a lifetime.'

Brad said all of the words the 24-year-old had been waiting to hear as the couple stood in the sunset strewn gardens of famous golfer Ernie Els Wine Estate in Cape Town, South Africa.

'I'm asking you to give me your forever. Please let me be your best friend, let me protect you and your beautiful daughter and please give me the opportunity to love you for the rest of your life,' he said.

Determined: Brad said all of the words the 24-year-old had been waiting to hear as the couple stood in the sunset strewn gardens of famous golfer Ernie Els Wine Estate in Cape Town, Africa

The sparkler: Brad presented Emily with a stunning Neil Lane diamond ring

Brad, who had been previously dubbed 'The Cad' after his last disastrous 2007 Bachelor finale, admitted to Emily that he had made mistakes in the past, but that she had changed all of that.

I've gone through so much to get to where I am today. I've made so many mistakes and had so many ups and downs,' he said.

'I always believed that when the time was right, I'd find the woman that I've been looking for for my entire life.

Happiness: The moment that Emily found out that she going to be the next Mrs Womack

Emotion: A speechless Emily, could barely contain her tears as she accepted his proposal

'I knew it would take opening up ways in I wasn't used to….All it took was coming here and finding you.'

After the romantic-filled moment, Brad took a moment of reflection.

'I'm confident that I chose the right woman,' he said. 'I'm even more confident in our love and that it's very real. I mean it.'

A speechless Emily, could barely contain her tears as she accepted his proposal.
'I'm just really, really happy,' she said.

'There's no question in my mind that Brad is the right person for me,' she said in her own reflection.

The final choice may have came as a surprise to some fans as earlier in the episode, it appeared that Emily may had ruined her chances of being Brad's fiancée.

Tenderness: The couple kissed and cuddled after the proposal

After their final date, she questioned Brad about his readiness to be a step-father to her five-year-old daughter Ricki.

Consistently reminding Brad that having a child is 'not always fun', he began to get frustrated with her.

'I don't think you're ready,' Brad told her, shaking his head in disbelief.

In retrospect, Emily was shattered about the outcome.

'I really just messed it up big-time,' she said. 'Every time something like this happens, my head absolutely sabotages my heart...and I screwed myself.'

And Brad was equally devastated.

'I'm completely defeated,' he said. 'This particular date is making me question everything.'

Doubt: Earlier in the night it appeared that Emily may had ruined her chances of being Brad's fiancée

But earlier it was clear that Emily had already come into the fold of Brad's world, especially when she won over his parent's with her 'down-to-earth' attitude.

After telling his family the story of how she lost her fiancé Ricky Hendrick in a plane crash whilst she was six-months pregnant, they were won over by her bravery as a single mother in the face of adversity, and willingness to let somebody into her life.

'My favourite thing that Emily said to me today was that Brad was her angel,' his mother Pam said. 'I think she's had a very difficult time...so I want this to be very good for her.'

Tears: Before proposing to Emily, Brad had the hard job of letting down other finalist Chantal O'Brien, who clearly didn't take the news well

Before proposing to Emily, Brad had the difficult task of letting down other finalist Chantal O'Brien, who clearly didn't take the news well.

Immediately the 28-year-old burst into tears when he broke the bad news.

'I don't know how else to say except I have strong feelings for someone else,' he told her.

After many sobs, with dignity, Chantal pulled herself together and said: 'You're an amazing person. Emily's very lucky. It just sucks because I felt so strongly.'

Excruciating ride home: Chantal left in a limo without a rose or Brad

What big teeth you have! Red Riding Hood star Amanda Seyfried takes her dog to lunch

Walkies: Amanda Seyfried is lead to lunch by her loyal dog, Finn

It would seem Amanda Seyfried can’t get enough of her furry canine companions at the moment as she stepped out in Hollywood yesterday afternoon.

The Red Riding Hood actress looked blissfully happy as she headed out for lunch with her favourite companion, an Australian Shepherd dog, called Finn.

The 25-year-old star of the new fantasy werewolf movie is a well-known animal lover.

Paw-fectly happy: Amanda bends down and gives Finn a hug outside Urth Caffe

Amanda clutched a chic, oversized Prada handbag and dressed in black leggings zipped at the knee, a grey sweater and biker boots.

The pair made their way to Urth Caffe on Melrose Avenue, where they were joined by actress Audia Tulloch.

Amanda enjoyed one of Urth's healthy Bobas iced green teas as Finn relaxed in the shade by her feet.

One person not present was Amanda’s on/off boyfriend Ryan Phillippe.

After lunch, loyal Finn was so well behaved that Amanda took him to LA’s ‘doggie boutique and spa’, Pariero on Melrose Avenue, and treated him to a brand new lead.

Red Riding Hood is out in cinemas now in the U.S and has so far grossed over $14.1 million at the box office.

More like 25 Cent: 50 Cent looks half the man after dramatic weightloss for new movie role is revealed in film's new trailer

By JODY THOMPSON

Dedication: 50 Cent lost more than four stone in just two months for his role in Things Fall Apart

He famously launched onto the music scene with his 2003 multi-million-selling album Get Rich Or Die Tryin' - and 50 Cent has shown his dogged commitment to success in his latest film role.

The 35-year-old rapstar - real name Curtis Jackson - underwent drastic weightloss to play an American football player stricken with cancer to the extent he almost looked on the brink of death in real life.

The star went on a strict liquid diet and spent three hours every day in the gym to lose four stone in two months to drop to under 11 stone for his starring role in Things Fall Apart.

Thin: The usually bulky star plays a cancer-stricken football player in the film, the official trailer for which was unveiled last night

The usually musclebound singer however has since put the weight back on since he finished shooting the film, which also stars Ray Liotta, last summer.

‘Fiddy’ said he was inspired to lose the weight by Robert De Niro who lost 35lbs for his award-winning role in Taxi Driver in 1976.

Director Mario Van Peebles paid tribute to the rapper, saying: ‘50 was not at all what I expected. 50 is a really focused, bright, disciplined, affable cat. In terms of directing him, he’s a dream.’

The full 50: The normal bulked-back-up 50 Cent, seen at the Vanity Fair Oscar Party last month and last week in Chicago

And in another sacrifice to his craft, Fiddy also had his tattoos removed on his arms after getting fed up of the time spent in make-up getting the covered up before going in front of the cameras.

He admitted: 'I took ‘em off. I've been on a few acting projects and they been making me get up… My call time is four hours before the regular acting talent because of the tattoos.'

Thin: The star looked suitably ill for his role as an American footballer fighting cancer

Hair today: The star begins the movie with a full set of dreads which he later loses through treatment

The rapper's achievement still does not top that of recent Oscar winner Christian Bale, who lost 63lbs for his role in The Machinist.

Bale went from 185lbs to 122lbs to look like he 'had not slept for a year' and did it by cutting out most foods and relentlessly exercising.

Former drug-dealer Fiddy meanwhile has turned out to be quite the renaissance man.

Dark: Things Fall Apart doesn't look like uplifting viewing

As well as his music and acting career, the former Eminem protegé wrote a self-help business guide called the 50th Law.

Meanwhile, he's become the latest star to donate money earned from an event linked to Libyan leader Muammar Gadaffi to charity.

The rapper announced he will be making a donation to Unicef to help with that organisation's relief efforts in the turmoil-hit country.

Peak condition: Fiddy as his fans are ysed to seeing him - ripped and covered in tattoos

A representative for the star said: 'In light of the on-going events in Libya, 50 Cent will be making a donation to Unicef, which is providing vital relief supplies to meet the needs of women and children at risk during this crisis.'

50 Cent performed at a private event during the 2005 Venice Film Festival that was later linked to the Gaddafi clan. Gaddafi is battling rebels who are revolting against his rule, and faces an investigation for possible war crimes.

Last week, Beyonce, Usher, Mariah Carey and Nelly Furtado announced donations to charity in the wake of their participation in private concerts connected to the Gaddafis.

Things Fall Apart is due out later this year, although a cinema release has yet to be confirmed.

Vanessa Hudgens shows off her long legs in a pair of Sixties inspired pink shorts

By DAILY MAIL REPORTER

Fun in the sun: Vanessa Hudgens enjoys a coffee and a walk down the Venice Boardwalk with a male friend yesterday

We are used to seeing her in various black or dark coloured casual outfits.

But Sucker Punch star Vanessa Hudgens added a dash of colour to her wardrobe yesterday as she spent time by the beach.

The 22-year-old beauty donned a pair of fluorescent pink high waisted shorts with a funky striped pattern which looked very sixties inspired.

Clutching a large coffee, the actress appeared to be enjoying the warm Californian sunshine as she laughed and chatted with her mystery companion on their walk through the trendy beach-side community of Venice.

Vanessa has had a busy couple of weeks on the promotional tour for her new film Beastly - a modern day interpretation of the Disney classic Beauty and The Beast.

After the Los Angeles première she jetted to New York for the East coast release.

Swinging sixties: The Sucker Punch star rocked a bright pair of stripy high waisted pink shorts

While there she made a series of TV appearances including Live With Regis And Kelly, on which she showed off her new butterfly neck tattoo.

She then headed to Las Vegas this past weekend to celebrate her friend and fellow actress, Brittany Snow's 25th birthday.

The girls joined a group of their friends at a party in Brittany's honour at Pure Nightclub in the Caesar's Palace Hotel and Casino.

Hopefully Vanessa enjoyed her relaxing day at the beach because thinks are likely to get busy again for the star with the release of yet another of her films, Sucker Punch, on March 25.

The action fantasy thriller, which she shot last year, is based on a comic book with an all female lead cast.

The movie, directed by Zack Snyder, is set in the Fifties and is about a little girl, Babydoll, who is held captive by her evil stepfather.

Next project: Vanessa, right, in a promotional picture from her new film Sucker Punch

She ends up in mental institution and while there she starts to imagine alternative reality in which she plans her escape from that world and away from her father.

In order to do that she has to steal five objects before she is caught and 'lobotomised by a vile man'.

Described as 'Alice in Wonderland with machine guns', it follows the gang of young femme-fatales, of which Blondie is one, on their quest for the objects that will save their friend.

Carrie Underwood makes big screen debut in inspirational movie Soul Surfer

By DAILY MAIL REPORTER

New string: Country star Carrie Underwood makes her big screen debut playing an inspiring church leader in Soul Surfer

Carrie Underwood has cemented her legacy in the music world having won numerous awards and sold millions of albums.

Now the country singer is trying her hand at acting in the upcoming movie Soul Surfer.

Carrie has a starring role in the film about a teenage surfer who finds the courage to get back into the ocean after having her arm bitten off by a shark.

Nashville to Hollywood: The country music singer took time out from her busy recording career to try her hand at acting

The film is based on the inspriational true-life story of Bethany Hamilton, who will be played by AnnaSophia Robb.

Bethany lost her arm in the 2003 shark attack but courageously got back on her board and became a champion again just months later.

Carrie plays Sarah Hill, the church leader that inspires Bethany to get back into the water.

Bethany's parents, played by Helen Hunt and Dennis Quaid, struggle with encouraging their daughter in a risky sport but are then faced with the threat of her career being cut short after the tragedy.

Moving flick: The film is based on a true story about teenage surfer Bethany Hamilton, left, who is played by AnnaSophia Robb

The film has been described as Blue Crush meeting 127 Hours but it is an inspirational tale of triumph over adversity.

In the trailer released this week, Carrie shows that she has the ability to light up a big screen in her movie debut.

The country music singer had a small role in hit TV series How I Met Your Mother last year to test out her acting chops.

Close family: Bethany's parents are played by Helen Hunt and Dennis Quaid

The movie has already courted controversy when it was reported that the words Holy Bible were digitally removed from the cover of a Bible in a scene where Bethany's father Tom is reading scripture to his daughter.

The devout Christian family were relieved when they saw the final cut of the film to see it has been put back in.

'I could see the words bright and clear. I looked at my wife and whispered, "Thank you God, they put it back"', Tom Hamilton told The Hollywood Reporter.

It had apparently been taken out to soften the Christian element of the film so not to alienate non-Christian audiences.

Soul Surfer opens in theatres on April 8

Cameron Diaz gives a VERY raunchy lesson in how to wash a car in Bad Teacher trailer

By DAILY MAIL REPORTER

In a lather: The 38-year-old actress plays a teacher who spends most of her time trying to find a man to look after her

Cameron Diaz proves she is schooled in the art of seduction in her upcoming film, Bad Teacher.

In a new trailer for the upcoming comedy, the actress is seen flashing her incredible figure in tight Daisy Duke denim shorts as she gets lathered up in soap suds at a car wash.

The 38-year-old is also pictured smoking marijuana in a scene from the film in which she plays a raunchy educator looking for a man to take care of her.

Funny flick: Cameron has called the hilarious movie 'filthy but fun'

Diaz also pairs up with her with her former boyfriend Justin Timberlake who plays another member of staff in the film due to be released in June this year.

The actress described the flick as 'filthy' but 'fun' and said she had given her seal of approval to Timberlake's role.

'We wanted Justin because he's such a brilliant comedian. He's so funny. He's very, very talented,' she said.

Not awkward: The Charlie's Angels actress stars alongside her ex-boyfriend Justin Timberlake in the film

'And Jason Segel is the heart of the film, which is weird. It's sort of a love triangle between the three of us.'

Appearing on the Jimmy Kimmel show last night, Diaz chose to answer some unusual questions rather than the standard chat show Q&A.

So when asked if she like watching adult films, she boldly said: 'I love porn!'
'You know what I love about hotels? How discreet they are. They always give you that little thing at the bottom - "Your room will be charged the same as any other room. Titles will be used"'.

Diaz was dressed like she was going to be a part of a circus.

Her black trousers, braces and white vest top - which showed her black bra underneath - looked more suited to an acrobat than a movie star.

The Charlie's Angel's star also showed off her very toned arm muscles, which have drawn comparisons with Madonna's sculpted physique in recent weeks.

But despite Diaz's muscular appearance, the actress revealed she was mocked for being skinny in school.

Special guest: The star, who is dating baseball player Alex Rodriguez, appeared on Jimmy Kimmel's chat show last night

'I've had a lot of nicknames,' she said. 'When I was a kid it was "Skeletor", which really did a lot for my confidence.

'And "skinny bone Jones" - that was most of my childhood. And there was a time when I was just "dirtbag nosebag". Then there was a time when I was "C-Diesel" and then "Diesel".'

Diaz also made reference to the moment TV camera caught her feeding popcorn to beau Alex Rodriguez during the Super Bowl.

'You should see what I normally feed people when I'm not on television,' she joked.
